Star NFL Receiver Stefon Diggs Embroiled in New Defamation Lawsuit Ahead of Super Bowl LX

As the New England Patriots gear up for the highly anticipated Super Bowl LX, star wide receiver Stefon Diggs finds himself at the centre of a fresh legal storm. A defamation lawsuit has been filed against the NFL sensation, adding another layer of controversy to what has already been a tumultuous season off the field.

The legal action, reportedly originating from an incident in 2024, centres around allegations of a stolen luxury vehicle and subsequent physical altercations involving individuals close to Diggs. The plaintiff, a former employee of the acclaimed receiver, claims that Diggs falsely accused him of stealing a Ferrari. This accusation, the lawsuit asserts, persisted despite official police investigations clearing the plaintiff of any wrongdoing.

According to the legal filing, the alleged false narrative disseminated by Diggs had a detrimental impact on the plaintiff’s professional life. His concierge business reportedly suffered a significant decline, and he claims to have faced numerous threats as a direct consequence of the accusations.

The complaint details a pattern of alleged harassment, with the plaintiff stating that individuals associated with Diggs confronted him in various public settings across Miami and Houston. These encounters, the lawsuit claims, were aimed at demanding the return of gifts previously bestowed upon the plaintiff by the NFL star.

Further compounding the allegations, the lawsuit claims that in December 2025, two men linked to Diggs physically assaulted the plaintiff at a nightclub in Miami. Shockingly, the complaint alleges that Trevon Diggs, Stefon’s brother, was also present and witnessed the alleged assault at Tootsie’s Cabaret.

The victim asserts that the altercation resulted in a range of injuries, including a torn ACL. The legal document formally names both Stefon and Trevon Diggs as defendants. The lawsuit seeks damages for defamation, vicarious liability, and a conspiracy to harass the former employee.

Stefon Diggs has yet to formally respond to these latest allegations. His focus remains on preparing for the Super Bowl, a testament to his dominant performance throughout the season as a key offensive weapon for the Patriots. Representatives for Diggs and the New England Patriots have been approached for comment by the Daily Mail.

A Season Marred by Allegations

This latest legal challenge is not the first controversy to surface this season for the NFL Comeback Player of the Year nominee. Just weeks prior to this new lawsuit, Diggs faced accusations of felony strangulation or suffocation, along with misdemeanor assault and battery, stemming from an alleged incident involving his personal chef.

In response to those accusations, the New England Patriots released a statement indicating that Diggs “categorically denies” the allegations. Diggs himself, as reported by Mark Daniels of MassLive.com, acknowledged the emotional toll of the situation, stating, “It’s been an emotional time. It’s definitely an open case so I can’t even say anything about it.”

According to an incident report obtained by the Daily Mail concerning the personal chef allegation, the accuser stated that Diggs entered her unlocked bedroom, grabbed her from behind, and attempted to choke her. She reportedly expressed fear of blacking out during the alleged encounter before being pushed onto the bed. The report also noted that the accuser initially hesitated to identify Diggs to the police due to his public profile.

Beyond these recent legal and criminal accusations, Diggs’ year has been punctuated by a series of other off-field incidents that have attracted public attention. In May of last year, a viral video circulated showing Diggs on a boat with a pink substance that was speculated to be drugs. While he reportedly discussed the matter with Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel, no disciplinary action was taken by the team or the league.

Adding to the list of controversies, a social media influencer and clothing designer, Chris Blake Griffith, made serious claims against Diggs. Griffith alleged that Diggs attempted to drug him, made unwanted sexual advances, and later conspired to have him killed. Diggs, in turn, has accused Griffith of fabricating the story and has filed a defamation lawsuit against him. Griffith has since filed a counterclaim, maintaining the veracity of his accusations.

Personal Life Amidst Professional Scrutiny

Amidst the ongoing off-field turmoil, Stefon Diggs recently took a moment to publicly express his appreciation for his girlfriend, who is also the mother of his sixth child, the acclaimed rapper Cardi B.

Speaking to the media, Diggs shared his gratitude for her support, stating, “I just appreciate the support. She’s an amazing supporter to me and the Patriots. She wasn’t a football girl before I converted her over. I’m just thankful to have her in my corner and to continue to build that relationship.” He further commented on the privacy of his personal life, adding, “I don’t talk too much about my personal life but she’s an amazing woman.”

The couple reportedly began their relationship in early 2025, making their public debut in May of that year. They welcomed their first child together in November. Despite the intense scrutiny of his professional and personal life, Diggs continues to be a prominent figure in the NFL, with his upcoming appearance in Super Bowl LX drawing significant attention.
