Samsung Electronics has officially announced the date and location of its upcoming ‘Galaxy Unpacked 2026’ event. The event will take place in London, UK, on the 22nd at 10 p.m. KST (which corresponds to 2 p.m. local time). This announcement comes as the company prepares to unveil a range of innovative products that reflect its evolving vision for artificial intelligence (AI) and user-centric technology.
Roh Tae-moon, the head of Samsung Electronics’ DX Division, shared his insights into the future of Galaxy AI in a contributed article published on the company’s newsroom. He emphasized that the success of AI lies not in the computational power of models but in the deep understanding of users. According to Roh, “Artificial intelligence (AI) depends not on model performance but on a deep understanding of users.”
He further elaborated that throughout history, technological advancements have often been driven by innovations that touch daily life rather than those with the most powerful capabilities. Roh highlighted that the next phase of AI development will be defined by the ability of devices to interpret user context and build trust. “The best experience does not come from the smartest model but from the device that knows the user best,” he said.
Samsung’s approach to AI is built on the foundation of its extensive ecosystem of devices. This includes mobile phones, tablets, watches, TVs, home appliances, foldable phones, and smart glasses—each serving as a touchpoint that helps map a user’s daily life. By leveraging these devices, Samsung aims to create a more personalized and seamless experience for its customers.
One of the key principles guiding Samsung’s AI strategy is ‘openness’ and ‘trust.’ The company is committed to an open ecosystem that connects various devices and partners through the SmartThings app. At the same time, it is strengthening its focus on data security and user responsibility.
“Trust becomes the foundation of everything as AI becomes more personal and proactive,” Roh explained. He pointed to Samsung Knox, a security platform that ensures safe device connectivity, and the Personal Data Engine, which enables AI to be uniquely personal without transmitting data externally. These technologies are becoming increasingly important in building user confidence.
The ‘Galaxy Unpacked 2026’ event will feature a lineup of next-generation products that embody Samsung’s AI vision. Among the highlights is a new foldable phone that is thinner, lighter, and more durable than previous models. This device is expected to set a new standard in portable and flexible technology.
In addition to the foldable phone, the event will showcase enhanced health care features based on the Galaxy Watch. These features will offer more precise monitoring of biometric signals such as sleep patterns and heart rate, providing users with tools to support a healthier lifestyle.
Roh concluded his remarks by reiterating the core question that defines the next era of technology: “The question defining the next era is no longer ‘Who has the smartest AI?’ but ‘Who best understands people and transforms that into trustworthy experiences?’” He expressed optimism about the future, stating, “With an open mind and a sense of responsibility, we will open the next chapter together at Galaxy Unpacked.”
