The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, was on Saturday, May 16, re-elected without opposition as the candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Zaria Federal Constituency for the 2027 general election.
The Speaker was re-elected following a vote of support from registered members of the APC in the 13 electoral areas within the Zaria Federal Constituency.
The activity, which occurred at the 13 voting districts at the same time, started around 10 a.m. and saw a significant number of APC members participating, with the event taking place in a calm environment.
When he requested confirmation, all the cleared APC members from Kwarbai B supported Abbas Tajudeen as the party’s nominee for the federal constituency. The process mirrored this approach in the other 12 electoral wards of the federal constituency.
At the collation center for the Zaria Federal Constituency, Dr. Hamisu Ibrahim Kubau, the APC Returning Officer for the Zaria Federal Constituency during the party’s primary elections for the House of Representatives, declared that a total of 1,376 APC members from the 13 wards supported Speaker Abbas as the party’s standard-bearer.
He stated, “There are 13 wards within the Zaria Federal Constituency, and only one individual purchased a form, underwent screening, and received clearance. That person is Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen. To meet all the necessary criteria, we visited every ward and carried out affirmations. INEC representatives and party officials are present. The process was carried out without any issues.”

In his message of goodwill, the chairman of the APC House of Representatives primary elections in Kaduna State, Senator Yakubu Oseni stated that, according to the results of the primary, Speaker Abbas is cherished by his constituents. He referred to the Speaker as a leader who listens attentively. He conveyed confidence that Speaker Abbas will easily secure victory in the general elections.
The activity was supervised by the representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Speaker Abbas expressed gratitude to APC members in Zaria Federal Constituency for endorsing him as the party’s candidate, promising them improved times as their representative.
He stated that he would guarantee the constituency’s citizens receive top-level representation, urging them to back President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR; Governor Uba Sani, and all APC candidates in the 2027 national elections.
