A Life of Faith, Leadership, and Philanthropy

Pastor Ituah Olajide Ighodalo is a name that resonates deeply within the Pentecostal community in Nigeria. As the Senior Pastor of Trinity House in Lagos, he has become a symbol of spiritual guidance and unwavering commitment to service. Born on April 6, 1961, in Ibadan, he is the son of Pa Jeremiah Ighodalo and Mrs. Folayegbe Akintunde-Ighodalo. His father, an alumnus of Baptist Academy, Lagos, was a respected leader in the Ewohimi community of Ishanland, Edo state. His mother, Mrs. Fola Akintunde-Ighodalo, was a trailblazer, being the first female permanent secretary in the Nigerian Civil Service.

The legacy of education and leadership was clearly passed down to Pastor Ituah. His parents were firm believers in quality education, which was evident from the start of his academic journey. For primary school, he attended Maryhill Convent School in Ibadan, where the Roman Catholic educational system instilled in him values such as self-discipline, integrity, and resilience. This foundation would later shape his character and influence his professional and spiritual endeavors.

After completing his primary education, Pastor Ituah pursued secondary education at Kings College, Lagos. This was a rare move for someone from Ibadan during that time, as most students aimed for Government College Ibadan. At Kings College, he shared classrooms with notable figures such as His Royal Majesty, Muhammadu Sanusi II, the 16th Emir of Kano, and Major-General Reuben Ndubuisi Nkado (Rtd.), a distinguished military officer and medic. These early associations reflected the high caliber of his peers and the environment that shaped his development.

Following his secondary education, Pastor Ituah continued his studies at the International School, University of Ibadan, for his Advanced Levels. He then earned a combined honours degree in Economics and Accounting from the University of Hull, England, in 1982. While his siblings attended the University of Ibadan, Pastor Ituah took a different path, which eventually led him to a successful career in accounting.

He began his professional journey at Pricewaterhouse and later founded Ighodalo & Co. in 1987. The firm merged with three others in 2004 to form SIAO, a prominent professional accounting firm offering audit, tax, and advisory services. His contributions to the field have earned him recognition as a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Taxation.

Beyond his professional achievements, Pastor Ituah is also known for his deep spiritual commitment and philanthropy. As the Senior Pastor of Trinity House, he balances his responsibilities with a strong sense of purpose. He is also actively involved in various social and professional organizations, including serving as the immediate past vice-president of the Kings College Old Boys Association (KCOBA).

His charitable nature is a defining trait. Pastor Ituah is known for his kindness and dedication to helping others. He often works late into the night and rises early for morning services, showing an incredible work ethic and devotion. He believes in the teachings of Jesus Christ, emphasizing the importance of both spiritual and physical well-being. This philosophy is reflected in his devotional book, Believe and Command the Mornings, which has inspired millions over the years.

Pastor Ituah’s resilience in the face of adversity is another testament to his strength. After the unexpected passing of his former wife, Ibidunni, six years ago, he demonstrated remarkable recovery and perseverance. His ability to overcome such a significant loss is attributed to his deep faith and the presence of the Holy Spirit in his life.

In conclusion, Pastor Ituah Olajide Ighodalo has left an indelible mark on both the spiritual and professional landscapes of Nigeria. His life serves as an inspiration to many, and his contributions continue to impact countless lives. As he celebrates another year of life, it is a reminder of the enduring legacy he has built and the future leaders he continues to inspire.
