Madam Grace Agyeman Asamoah, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atwima Kwanwoma, recently underscored this vital principle during the inauguration of a new community market in Apaaso, located within the Ashanti Region of Ghana. She articulated that effective collaboration between governmental bodies and private investors is indispensable for achieving tangible progress in infrastructure development and for significantly improving the livelihoods of those in local communities.
A New Hub for Economic Activity
The newly established market in Apaaso represents a significant stride towards bolstering local economic activity. Madam Asamoah highlighted the facility as a crucial development that provides a conducive and well-equipped environment for traders. This is especially beneficial for market women and small-scale business operators, who form the backbone of many local economies. Furthermore, the market is expected to enhance residents’ access to a wider array of goods and essential services, thereby improving daily living standards.
The initiative behind this project was lauded by Madam Asamoah, who specifically commended the Chief Executive Officer of the project, Mr. Patrick Owusu, widely known as Pekus. However, Mr. Yiadom also voiced significant concerns regarding the prevailing state of road infrastructure in the area. He highlighted the deteriorating condition of roads, which can impede the smooth flow of goods and access for customers. Additionally, he raised alarms about the rising levels of insecurity, which can deter economic activity and impact the well-being of residents. He made a strong plea to the government to take immediate and decisive action to address these critical infrastructure and security challenges, underscoring that their resolution is vital for the comprehensive development and prosperity of the Apaaso and Asaago communities.
