APC National Chairman Highlights Government’s Economic Intervention Programmes

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, has emphasized the positive impact of the intervention programmes launched by President Bola Tinubu’s administration. These initiatives, he said, are aimed at expanding access to finance for entrepreneurs, supporting small businesses, and promoting youth empowerment.

In a statement released on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, Yilwatda highlighted the administration’s commitment to fulfilling its campaign promises under the Renewed Hope Agenda. He stated that these programmes demonstrate a clear focus on addressing key challenges in the economy.

One of the primary obstacles faced by micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) is limited access to affordable financing, despite their significant role in job creation and economic growth. Yilwatda pointed out that the Federal Government has introduced targeted funding initiatives to tackle this issue and stimulate enterprise development across the country.

Key Intervention Programmes

Several specific programmes have been launched to support local businesses and young entrepreneurs:

  • N75bn Presidential Intervention Fund for MSMEs: This initiative aims to provide accessible financing for small businesses to expand their operations and create employment opportunities.
  • N11bn Support Package through the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN): Designed to strengthen the capacity and competitiveness of small businesses, this package is intended to help them thrive in a challenging market.
  • N30bn Youth Entrepreneurship Fund managed through the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC): This fund targets young entrepreneurs, offering financial support to help them grow their businesses and contribute to the economy.

These programmes have already begun to make an impact, with beneficiaries including artisans, farmers, traders, manufacturers, tailors, and other small business owners. Yilwatda noted that many of these individuals are using the funds to expand their operations and generate employment.

Broader Economic Benefits

Yilwatda emphasized that the interventions will have wider economic benefits by increasing productivity, raising household incomes, and stimulating local economies. He described the APC’s commitment to building an economy that works for all Nigerians, stating that these intervention funds are not mere policy announcements but practical investments in the dreams and aspirations of millions of people.

He reaffirmed the party’s support for policies aimed at promoting entrepreneurship, attracting investment, strengthening local industries, and fostering sustainable economic growth.

Conclusion

As the APC continues to advocate for economic reforms, the success of these intervention programmes could serve as a model for future initiatives. By focusing on accessibility, inclusivity, and long-term sustainability, the government is taking meaningful steps toward creating a more robust and dynamic economy.
