NAHCO Embarks on Ambitious Diversification with Luxury Airport Hotel Launch
The Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (NAHCO) is significantly broadening its operational scope, transitioning from its traditional role as a ground handling specialist to a multifaceted aviation services conglomerate. This strategic evolution is underscored by the recent unveiling of a new 20-room luxury airport hotel, the Sapphire Hotel, situated directly within the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos. This development marks a pivotal moment in the company’s journey to establish a comprehensive aviation ecosystem, extending far beyond its foundational services.
The launch of the Sapphire Hotel coincides with NAHCO’s robust financial performance in the fiscal year 2025. The company reported a remarkable surge in profit, climbing by an impressive 40 per cent to reach N18 billion. This financial success provides a strong foundation for NAHCO’s ambitious diversification strategies.
A Year of Remarkable Financial Growth
NAHCO’s unaudited financial results for the year ending December 31, 2025, paint a picture of substantial growth and operational resilience. The company’s revenue saw a healthy increase of 21.8 per cent, rising from N53.54 billion in 2024 to N65.21 billion in 2025. This top-line growth translated into significant improvements in profitability across key metrics.
- Gross Profit: Climbed to N38.61 billion, an increase from N33.08 billion in the preceding year.
- Operating Profit: Experienced a 25 per cent rise, reaching N24.84 billion.
- Profit Before Tax: Grew by 30 per cent, standing at N24.26 billion, up from N18.70 billion in 2024.
- After-Tax Profit: Showed a remarkable increase of 39.91 per cent, soaring to N17.99 billion from N12.87 billion.
- Earnings Per Share (EPS): Consequently, EPS also saw a significant uplift, up by 40 per cent from N6.60 to N9.24.
This impressive financial trajectory was achieved even in the face of prevailing inflationary pressures, highlighting NAHCO’s enhanced operational efficiency and stringent cost management practices. Notably, administrative expenses remained largely stable, reported at N13.89 billion, indicating effective control over overheads.

The integrated offering of the hotel and lounge creates a seamless luxury experience for the most discerning travellers.
Industry Recognition and Future Outlook
The launch event drew significant attention from industry stakeholders, including officials from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and representatives from various international airlines. Attendees lauded the initiative as a vital private-sector investment that significantly contributes to Nigeria’s airport infrastructure development.
Industry analysts predict that this diversification will not only strengthen NAHCO’s non-aeronautical revenue streams but also contribute to greater earnings stability. By expanding into hospitality and other integrated services, NAHCO is strategically positioning itself for sustained growth and enhanced resilience in the dynamic aviation sector. This move signals a clear commitment to innovation and a customer-centric approach, aiming to redefine the airport experience in Nigeria and beyond.
