Gruesome Discovery Leads to Arrest of Suspect in Dismemberment Case
A shocking discovery of dismembered human remains has led to the apprehension of a man in Nong Khai province, northeastern Thailand, as he allegedly attempted to flee across the border. The suspect is accused of killing his Lao girlfriend in Bangkok, dismembering her body, and then disposing of the remains in plastic bags.
The grim find occurred on Tuesday evening, around 8 PM, when eight bags containing human remains were discovered near a school in the Pak Kret district of Nonthaburi province. One bag was initially spotted in the Prapa canal close to the school entrance, with the others located approximately 100 meters away.
Authorities report that the suspect, identified as a 24-year-old Lao national known only as Tom, has confessed to the brutal crime. He claims to have killed and dismembered his girlfriend in a fit of rage after she expressed a desire to end their relationship.
The investigation was initiated after the victim’s elder brother reported her missing. He informed the police that his 20-year-old sister, identified as Ram, had disappeared from the suspect’s apartment located on Chaeng Watthana Soi 14 in Bangkok’s Thung Song Hong district.
Initial checks of CCTV footage from the apartment building did not show the victim leaving the premises recently. However, a police inspection of the suspect’s room on Tuesday evening revealed a strong smell of blood and visible bloodstains, prompting further investigation.
Police statements indicate that the suspect had brought his girlfriend from Chon Buri province to his Bangkok flat on Saturday. On Sunday evening, Ram reportedly contacted her brother, seeking assistance. The brother arrived at the apartment block late on Tuesday night. He encountered only the suspect, who informed him that Ram had run away following a dispute.
Further review of surveillance video provided crucial evidence. The footage captured the suspect entering his room early Sunday morning and leaving that same night with a black bag. He departed on a motorcycle and later returned late that night, again carrying a black bag. On Tuesday morning, he was observed transporting a black plastic container filled with black plastic bags in front of his apartment building.
Responding to the unfolding investigation, police officers from the Thung Song Hong station in Bangkok travelled to Nong Khai. They successfully apprehended the 24-year-old suspect, Tom, just as he was preparing to cross the border into Laos.
During interrogation, the suspect revealed details about his time in Thailand. He stated that he entered the country via the Nong Khai border checkpoint on August 19, 2025. He subsequently found employment in Bangkok as a cook at a hospital in the Thung Song Hong area of Lak Si district, residing in a nearby apartment.
His deceased girlfriend, a native of Savannakhet province, worked as a waitress at a bar in Chon Buri. The suspect admitted to repeatedly urging her to quit her job, but she refused. He claimed that she eventually decided to end their relationship, citing his violent temper and a history of physical abuse.
The suspect recounted that he had gone to see his girlfriend and convinced her to return to Bangkok to live with him. However, on March 22, a heated argument ensued between the couple. He confessed to losing control during this altercation and killing her in an outburst of anger, according to police reports.
The arrest and subsequent confession mark a significant development in a case that has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the tragic consequences of domestic violence and uncontrolled rage. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to piece together the full timeline of events and ensure justice for the victim.
