A deeply distressed mother is making a public appeal to her estranged husband, begging for the return of their two young children who were allegedly taken from her in 2022. The children were incredibly vulnerable at the time of their disappearance: the elder was just three years old, and the younger was a mere four months old and still breastfeeding.
Sophia Thomasi, a mother of three, has shared the harrowing circumstances surrounding the alleged forceful abduction of her children. For four years, she has been embroiled in a futile struggle to locate them and secure their return, enduring immense emotional anguish and uncertainty.
The mother, who resides in Arumeru, Arusha, recounted the devastating moment her husband allegedly took the children, leaving her with no information about their whereabouts. Despite reporting the matter to the police at the time of the incident, Sophia’s efforts have yielded no progress. Four years have passed without any sign of her children, and she remains desperate for any news.
The ordeal took a particularly cruel turn in late 2025 when Sophia received a message from an unknown number. The sender claimed to have information about her children and delivered the devastating news that her youngest child, who was only four months old when taken, had allegedly passed away. The message questioned why she had not been informed.
“The owner of the number had been giving me details about my children for a while, and the last time he did, he said my youngest, who was taken at four months, had passed away. He asked why I hadn’t been told,” Sophia explained, her voice thick with emotion.
However, the grieving mother has yet to receive any independent confirmation of her child’s death, leaving her in a state of agonizing limbo.
“Police have not helped me in any way. I have been searching for my children on my own, and the number that used to give me updates was shut down and now belongs to someone else,” she added, visibly struggling to hold back tears.
Sophia recalled that in the initial stages, her estranged husband would deny any knowledge of the children’s whereabouts or involvement in their disappearance whenever she managed to contact him.
