A Night Out in Manhattan

Dianna Russini and her husband, Kevin Goldschmidt, were seen enjoying a night out in Manhattan on Saturday, surrounded by a group of friends at a popular bar near Madison Square Garden. The couple was celebrating before Bruce Springsteen’s latest show in the city, seemingly unaware of the ongoing media scrutiny they have faced in recent months.

Last month, a scandal erupted when photos of Russini holding hands with New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel surfaced, leading to her resignation from her role as an NFL reporter at The Athletic. Despite the controversy, the couple appeared to be in high spirits during their outing.

A witness described the scene at Bourbon and Branch Bar, where Russini and Goldschmidt were joined by around 10-15 friends. The group was reportedly very lively, sharing drinks and food as they enjoyed the atmosphere before the concert. There was no indication that the couple was struggling with the fallout from the scandal, which has continued to generate significant attention within the NFL community.

“They were having a great time,” the witness said. “They were having a blast with a big group of friends. Lots of food and drinks ordered to their table and they were very carefree given everything that has gone on.”

Russini, who resides in New Jersey, has consistently denied any affair with Vrabel, who is also married. In her resignation letter to The Athletic, she emphasized that she would not let the incident define her career. However, Vrabel took a different approach when he addressed the media ahead of the NFL draft in April.

“I take accountability for my actions and the actions that caused a distraction to the people that I care most about—my family, this football team, this organization and our fans,” he stated. He later sought counseling, missing part of the draft and expressing a desire to be a better example for his family and team.

The Ongoing Scandal

Russini deleted her social media accounts after the initial scandal, but more pictures of her and Vrabel began to circulate. One of the most damaging images showed them getting intimate at a bar in Tribeca, just a few miles from where she was seen with friends on Saturday. Video footage also emerged of a romantic boat trip that allegedly took place months before she gave birth to her first son.

According to reports, Vrabel and Russini rented a vessel for two or three hours in June 2021 while he was still coaching the Tennessee Titans and she was covering him for ESPN. A source confirmed that they were the only people on board, and this was supported by a signed company waiver reviewed by TMZ.

Russini gave birth to her first son, named Mike, in August 2021. TMZ reported that she named him after her brother, Michael Russini, not the now-Patriots coach.

Another flirty clip emerged from a Barstool podcast episode where Vrabel and Russini participated in a Family Feud-style game. In one moment, Russini jokingly suggested that kissing a woman could get a man in the mood, prompting Vrabel to respond with enthusiasm.

Personal Life and Public Scrutiny

In a 2021 episode of ESPN’s Get Up, Russini discussed her marriage, stating, “I’m married to someone average. I don’t post a lot about him. If I was married to someone beautiful, I’d over-post too.” Her co-hosts later gave her a chance to correct herself, to which she replied, “We’re average together.”

Despite the public scrutiny, the couple seemed to be moving forward. On Saturday night, they attended one of the hottest tickets in town—a sold-out Springsteen concert. Vrabel has since returned to coaching with the Patriots, taking steps to build up to the 2026 NFL season. He recently oversaw rookie minicamp, and excitement for the new campaign has been building as the schedule was released.

The Patriots will start their season with a Super Bowl rematch against the Seattle Seahawks before hosting the Pittsburgh Steelers, who confirmed the return of Aaron Rodgers on Saturday night. While Russini left her job with The Athletic, the Patriots have continued to support Vrabel as their head coach. He has a strong history with the team, having won the Super Bowl three times as a player.

A New Chapter

As the drama surrounding the couple continues to unfold, both Russini and Vrabel seem to be focusing on their respective careers and personal lives. For now, it appears that they are finding moments of joy and normalcy, even amid the ongoing media attention.
