LG Electronics is charting an ambitious course for the 2026 model year, aiming to significantly boost its television sales performance. Amidst fierce competition from Chinese manufacturers employing aggressive low-price strategies that have impacted the profitability of South Korean industry leaders like Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics, the company is implementing a dual-track approach. This strategy focuses on making OLED (organic light-emitting diode) televisions more accessible while simultaneously elevating its premium LCD (liquid crystal display) offerings. A key differentiator in this competitive landscape is LG Electronics’ substantial investment in enhancing Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities across its TV lineup.
During a briefing session for the new 2026 model TV products held at Ground 220 in Yangpyeong-dong, Seoul, Baek Seon-pil, Head of Display Customer Experience (CX) at LG Electronics, expressed confidence in achieving superior results compared to the previous year.
A Strategic Dual-Track Approach
LG Electronics is set to unveil its latest innovations, including the new ‘LG OLED evo’ series and the premium LCD product, ‘LG Micro RGB evo.’ The television industry has taken notice of LG’s bold move to reduce OLED TV prices, with reductions ranging from 300,000 to 1,300,000 Korean won depending on the screen size. This price adjustment is particularly notable given the prevailing market conditions, where component costs and shipping expenses have seen an increase due to global geopolitical events, such as the aftermath of the Iran war. These price cuts effectively bridge the gap, allowing consumers to acquire an OLED product by investing only a marginal additional amount compared to LG Electronics’ highest-end LCD televisions.
Premium Differentiation in LCD Technology
While OLED TVs are becoming more attainable, LG Electronics is channeling its innovation efforts into the premium segment of its LCD lineup. The 2026 model ‘LG Micro RGB evo’ is a prime example of this focus. This new LCD television is equipped with the same powerful ‘3rd-gen Alpha 11 AI Processor’ found in the company’s flagship OLED products. This dedicated AI processor for televisions represents a significant leap forward, boasting a 5.6-fold improvement in Neural Processing Unit (NPU) performance and a 70% enhancement in Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) capabilities compared to its predecessor.
Baek elaborated on the impact of this advanced processor, stating, “The clarity of a TV’s image is determined by how sharply it renders human outlines and fine details in the background. With the improved AI processor, a ‘Dual AI Engine’ that enhances both elements has become possible.” This means viewers can expect an unparalleled level of detail and realism in their viewing experience.
Enhanced AI Integration for Enhanced User Experience
Beyond image processing, LG Electronics is embedding sophisticated AI models into its televisions, mirroring the capabilities found in smartphones. The integration of AI models such as Google Gemini and Microsoft Copilot allows users to interact with their TVs in new and intuitive ways. Through simple voice commands, users can generate desired images or even create music, opening up a world of creative possibilities directly from their living room.

The Pinnacle of OLED: The ‘LG OLED evo W6’
At the apex of its OLED offerings, LG Electronics has introduced the ‘LG OLED evo W6.’ This ultra-premium television redefines aesthetic integration into the home. With a remarkable thickness of approximately 9mm, comparable to that of a pencil, the W6 achieves an almost seamless presence. It features integrated speakers and wireless connectivity for all peripheral devices, including set-top boxes.
