Enhanced Security for Kumasi Community: Landlords’ Association Equips Police with New Motorbike
The Denchembuoso District Police Command in Kumasi, located in Ghana’s Ashanti Region, has received a significant boost to its operational capabilities with the donation of a brand-new motorbike. This valuable contribution comes from the Kwadaso-Ohwimase (Hilltop) Landlord’s Association, a move aimed at bolstering the police’s efforts to combat crime and enhance community safety.

The donated vehicle, a Yamaha Jungle model, was formally presented to the community’s leadership before being handed over to the police. The Kwadaso Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Eric Asibey, received the motorbike on behalf of the community and subsequently presented it to the Abuakwa Divisional Commander, C/Supt Owoahene K. A. Acheampong. This handover ceremony underscored the collaborative spirit between community stakeholders and law enforcement agencies.
The Kwadaso-Ohwimase Landlord’s Association, under the chairmanship of Charles Kusi Manu, spearheaded this initiative. Their benevolent gesture is a direct response to the growing need for enhanced police presence and mobility within the community. By providing this essential piece of equipment, the association aims to empower the police to more effectively patrol the area, respond to incidents swiftly, and ultimately deter criminal activities.
During the handover, C/Supt Owoahene K. A. Acheampong expressed his profound gratitude to the Kwadaso-Ohwimase landlords for their thoughtful and impactful donation. Speaking on behalf of the Denchemuoso Police, he assured the association and the wider community that the motorbike would be meticulously maintained and utilized for its intended purpose.
“This motorbike is a vital asset that will significantly enhance our policing efforts within the community,” C/Supt Acheampong stated. He further emphasized the importance of ongoing public-private partnerships in ensuring effective law enforcement and urged other community groups and individuals to follow the commendable example set by the landlords.
The Kwadaso MCE, Eric Asibey, echoed these sentiments, commending the police for their unwavering dedication and the tangible progress made in reducing crime rates across the municipality. He acknowledged the challenges faced by the police and highlighted how such logistical support directly contributes to their success.
MCE Asibey took the opportunity to appeal to other associations, groups, and individuals within the community to consider similar acts of support. He believes that by collectively contributing resources, the community can work hand-in-hand with the police to create a safer and more secure environment for all residents. This collaborative approach, he suggested, is crucial for fostering a strong sense of community ownership and responsibility towards public safety.
The donation represents more than just a vehicle; it symbolizes a shared commitment to tackling crime and improving the quality of life in Kumasi. The Yamaha Jungle motorbike is expected to facilitate increased police patrols, particularly in areas that may be harder to reach by traditional means, thereby extending the security blanket over a wider geographical area. This proactive measure by the landlords’ association is a testament to their civic responsibility and their understanding of the integral role that effective policing plays in community well-being and development.
The implications of this donation extend beyond immediate operational benefits. It fosters a positive relationship between the police and the community, building trust and encouraging greater cooperation. When citizens actively support their police force, it sends a clear message that crime will not be tolerated and that the community stands united in its pursuit of safety and security. The leadership of the Kwadaso-Ohwimase Landlord’s Association has indeed set a precedent that could inspire similar initiatives across other districts and regions, ultimately contributing to a more secure Ghana.
The ongoing efforts to combat crime require a multi-faceted approach, and the provision of essential equipment like this motorbike is a critical component. It allows law enforcement officers to be more visible, responsive, and effective in their duties. The Kwadaso-Ohwimase Landlord’s Association’s foresight and generosity are invaluable in this endeavor, demonstrating that community involvement is a powerful force for positive change.
