“Tak Yah Bayor!!! Ambik Je.”: A Heartwarming Initiative Offers Free Meals Across Malaysia

In a move designed to alleviate financial strain and combat hunger, particularly among students and underprivileged communities, a dedicated non-governmental organisation (NGO) known as the Kinta Kindheartedness Club has launched a compassionate free food initiative. Titled “Tak Yah Bayor!!! Ambik Je.” – a colloquial Malay phrase meaning “No Need to Pay!!! Just Take” – the programme aims to provide immediate sustenance to those in need, no questions asked.

The driving force behind this noble endeavour is Azlan Muhammad Shukri, the programme’s advisor and director. He shared that while the Kinta Kindheartedness Club has been actively involved in outreach efforts since 2015, their previous focus was primarily on supporting orphans and the homeless. This year, however, marks a significant expansion of their mission.

“This year, we have decided to broaden our scope,” Azlan explained during the programme’s launch in Meru. “We want to reach out to the general public, especially those residing in underprivileged areas and locations where students are concentrated. Our aim is to ensure that no one goes hungry because of financial difficulties.”

The core principle of “Tak Yah Bayor!!! Ambik Je.” is simplicity and accessibility. Anyone who feels hungry or is facing a genuine need can approach the pop-up stalls and take free food and drinks. “There’s no need for registration, no complicated procedures, and absolutely no strings attached,” Azlan emphasised. “If you’re hungry, you take. It’s as simple as that.”

A Recurring Act of Charity

The Kinta Kindheartedness Club envisions this initiative as a regular fixture in the community, fostering a spirit of generosity and mutual support. Plans are in place to conduct these food distribution events bi-weekly or on a monthly basis, strategically rotating through different cities and towns across Malaysia. This mobile pop-up stall concept ensures that the food reaches diverse communities and locations, maximizing its impact.

Beyond the immediate relief of providing meals, the “Tak Yah Bayor!!! Ambik Je.” programme also serves as an effective conduit for donors who wish to contribute in tangible ways. For many, the idea of donating cooked meals or essential food supplies is more direct and personally fulfilling than contributing monetary funds, which can sometimes feel abstract.

The NGO strictly accepts only ready-to-eat meals, which are then promptly distributed to those in need. This ensures that the food is fresh and can be consumed immediately. In a commendable effort to minimise waste, any leftover food at the end of the day is not discarded. Instead, it is thoughtfully donated to local mosques, prayer halls, or orphanages, extending the reach of their charitable efforts.

Inaugural Success and Community Response

The inaugural event for “Tak Yah Bayor!!! Ambik Je.” proved to be a remarkable success, a testament to the growing awareness and positive reception of the initiative. Word of mouth, amplified through social media, played a crucial role in drawing a crowd. Between 3pm and 5pm, a significant number of individuals turned up to receive assistance.

The response was overwhelming, with all 1,000 food packs prepared for the launch being distributed and eagerly taken within a mere two hours. The variety of food offered, including popular local dishes like fried noodles, vermicelli, and fried rice, ensured that there was something for everyone. This swift depletion of supplies highlights the pressing need for such a programme within the community.

How to Contribute and Volunteer

The Kinta Kindheartedness Club is actively seeking support from the public to sustain and expand this vital initiative. Both food donations and volunteer assistance are highly valued.

  • Food Donations: Individuals and groups looking to contribute ready-to-eat meals are encouraged to connect with the NGO. This can be done by reaching out directly to their representatives or by contacting Azlan Muhammad Shukri at 016 284 8773. The focus is on providing nutritious and satisfying meals that can be immediately distributed.

  • Volunteering: For those who wish to contribute their time and energy, volunteer opportunities are available. Volunteering can involve assisting with the preparation of food, setting up the pop-up stalls, distributing meals, or helping with community outreach. Interested individuals can also reach out via the contact details provided.

The success of the first “Tak Yah Bayor!!! Ambik Je.” event underscores the profound impact that simple, well-intentioned initiatives can have on a community. With continued support, the Kinta Kindheartedness Club aims to make this programme a sustainable and impactful force for good, ensuring that hunger is not a barrier to opportunity for anyone in Malaysia.
