Beckham Brothers Mark Family Bonds with New Tattoos Amidst Eldest Son’s Estrangement
The Beckham family’s intricate tapestry of tattoos continues to evolve, with younger sons Romeo and Cruz recently unveiling new, meaningful ink. This comes at a time when their elder brother, Brooklyn, appears to be actively altering or removing his own tributes to his family, signalling a growing distance.
All three Beckham brothers have embraced a passion for body art, a clear nod to their father, football legend Sir David Beckham, who is himself extensively tattooed. From the moment they reached legal age, they began following in his inked footsteps, often choosing designs that celebrate their loved ones. However, in recent months, Brooklyn, who is pursuing a career as a chef, has reportedly been covering up tattoos dedicated to his parents, a move that has sparked considerable speculation.
Brooklyn’s Shifting Loyalties?
The trend of Brooklyn altering his family-themed tattoos began with a chest piece dedicated to his mother, Victoria Beckham, which read ‘Mama’s boy’. Last June, he was seen covering this ink with an image of his wife Nicola Peltz’s wedding flowers. This decision was widely interpreted as a public declaration of his current allegiances. More recently, sources suggest that the 26-year-old has been undergoing laser treatments to remove a tattoo of the word ‘Dad’ incorporated into an anchor design on his arm. While this is being addressed, it appears he has opted to cover the letters with other symbols.
Romeo’s ‘Family’ Declaration
In stark contrast to Brooklyn’s apparent rebranding, his younger brothers are reinforcing their connections through new additions to their sentimental ink collections. This past weekend, model Romeo, 23, proudly displayed the word ‘Family’ tattooed on the back of his neck, positioned above a cross and a pair of angel wings.

The London-based tattoo studio, Fine Line Hearts Club, shared images of Romeo’s new artwork on their Instagram page. This studio has a history of working with the Beckham brothers, as well as other high-profile celebrities.
The timing of Romeo’s ‘Family’ tattoo has not gone unnoticed by fans. Many pointed out the irony, given Brooklyn’s recent public comments where he described ‘Brand Beckham’ as promoting ‘inauthentic relationships’. Social media users were quick to comment, with some suggesting Romeo’s tattoo was a pointed message. One commenter, @laursy.p, believed Romeo was making a “b****y dig,” while @katie_b1985 humorously suggested, “Minus Brooklyn 🤣”. Another user, @_dollhon, remarked on the “funny timing.”
Cruz’s Romantic Tribute
Meanwhile, 20-year-old Cruz, a budding musician, appears to have taken inspiration from the devoted partners in his life. Both Brooklyn and his father, David, have numerous tattoos honouring their wives; Brooklyn has his wedding vows inked on his arm, among other tributes, and David famously has Victoria’s name tattooed on his body.

Cruz has now added a small cursive ‘J’ on his ribs, a clear tribute to his girlfriend, Jackie Apostel, who is 30. Jackie herself also received some new ink, opting for cursive writing on her side. The couple publicly declared their relationship in October 2024, having been seen together at Glastonbury during the summer of that year.
Jackie, a fellow musician and model, along with Romeo’s girlfriend, DJ Kim Turnbull, has been warmly embraced by the Beckham family. Both have been seen attending various family events and recently presented a united front with the Beckhams at Paris Fashion Week.
David’s Unwavering Tributes
While Brooklyn continues to forge his own path in the United States with Nicola, having expressed no desire to reconcile with his family and citing feelings of parental control and disrespect towards Nicola, David Beckham remains committed to his existing tattoos.

Despite the reported rift, Sir David has no intention of covering up his own heartfelt tributes to his children. His extensive collection includes Brooklyn’s nickname and full name across his lower back, alongside a touching ‘We love you, Daddy’ inscription in his children’s handwriting.

Following reports that Brooklyn wished to have his father’s tattoo removed, a source close to the family stated, “David still has his tribute to Brooklyn, his nickname Buster on his neck, and has no plans to cover it up.” The source added that David is “heartbroken” by Brooklyn’s recent actions.
Insiders suggest that both David and Victoria are eager to welcome their eldest son back into the fold. A source told People magazine last month that they are “afraid” of losing him permanently and are “horrified about everything.” Another insider believes that the strained relationship with Brooklyn could eventually heal with time, but acknowledges that they can only wait for that to happen. It is understood that neither Brooklyn nor Nicola are currently in direct contact with David or Victoria, with communication reportedly happening only through intermediaries.
