Tragic Highway Collision Claims Five Lives in Cumilla
A devastating accident on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Kalakachua, Cumilla, on Thursday evening resulted in the deaths of five individuals, including a family of four and their private car driver. The collision involved a private car and a bus, leaving the car severely mangled.

Victims Identified
The five individuals who lost their lives in the horrific crash have been identified as:
- Abdul Momin (50): A resident of Chatarpaiya village in Sonaimuri, Noakhali.
- Jharna Begum (40): Wife of Abdul Momin.
- Saif (7): Son of Abdul Momin and Jharna Begum.
- Labiba (18): Daughter of Abdul Momin and Jharna Begum.
- Jamal Hossain (52): The private car driver, hailing from Barishal.
Eyewitness Accounts Detail Devastating Impact
According to eyewitnesses present at the scene, the catastrophic event unfolded when a bus belonging to Star Line Transport veered into the path of the private car. The impact was so severe that the private car was instantly crushed.
Emergency services were immediately alerted, and the occupants of the private car were swiftly transported to nearby medical facilities. Four of the victims were taken to Cantonment General Hospital, while the fifth was admitted to Cumilla Medical College Hospital. Tragically, despite the best efforts of medical personnel, four of the individuals succumbed to their critical injuries shortly after arrival.
OC Abdul Momin further elaborated on the immediate aftermath of the accident. He stated that law enforcement officers were dispatched to the scene to manage the situation. The bodies of the deceased were subsequently recovered and transported to the morgue for formal procedures. Both the bus and the mangled private car were removed from the highway to restore traffic flow.
