Dhaka, May 17 — The Infrastructure Development Company Limited (IDCOL) has initiated a seven-day program of training workshops and informational sessions designed to enhance Bangladesh’s climate finance system.
The event, taking place between May 17 and 21, 2026, aims to improve knowledge about global climate finance systems, low-interest funding options, and entry points within the Green Climate Fund (GCF), as stated in a press release.
IDCOL, the first Direct Access Entity (DAE) in Bangladesh to access the GCF, stated that the initiative will gather representatives from government departments, financial bodies, private sector groups, and development partners through interactive meetings, technical dialogues, and knowledge exchange events.
Being an authorized organization of the GCF, IDCOL has a significant role in helping Bangladesh access global climate funding for climate-resistant and low-carbon development initiatives.
Authorities stated that the initiative is anticipated to boost organizational preparedness, increase the ability to develop projects, and improve collaboration among those involved in sustainable development and climate adaptation.
Via the initiative, IDCOL stated it is reiterating its dedication to broadening climate financing options and aiding Bangladesh’s shift toward a more robust and eco-friendly development route.
