Aaron Rodgers to Join the Pittsburgh Steelers for Another Season
After months of speculation, it has been confirmed that legendary quarterback Aaron Rodgers will play another season in the NFL with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The 42-year-old signal-caller and the team have reached an agreement on a new one-year contract, which includes $22 million in guaranteed money, with the potential to increase to $25 million through incentives.
This decision comes after Rodgers spent four months considering his future following a first-round playoff exit with the Steelers in January. His return to the team marks a reunion with new head coach Mike McCarthy, with whom he won a Super Bowl together with the Green Bay Packers in 2011. The duo has compiled an impressive 107 wins, ranking as the ninth most by any head coach-starting quarterback combination since 1966.
Rodgers is set to join the Steelers for their voluntary offseason practices starting on Monday, earlier than last year when he signed with the team only after their mandatory minicamp in June. Last season, Rodgers led the Steelers to the playoffs, but they were eliminated in the wild card round by the Houston Texans. This came shortly after legendary coach Mike Tomlin departed after 19 years at the helm.
In preparation for the possibility of Rodgers not returning, the Steelers added to their quarterback depth in the NFL Draft by selecting Penn State’s Drew Allar in the third round. Before free agency began in March, Rodgers indicated there was no deadline for him to make a decision about his future, stating he was not in a rush.
“Free agency starts in a week,” Rodgers told friend Pat McAfee. “I’ve talked to Mike, I’ve talked to [Steelers general manager] Omar [Khan]. There’s been no deadline that’s been put in front of me. There’s no contract offer or anything. So there’s nothing I’m having to debate between. I’m a free agent. Again, I’m enjoying my time with my wife and enjoying this part of the offseason. I think there’s conversations to be had down the line.”
Rodgers’ return to the NFL is expected to bring renewed attention to his marriage to his mysterious wife, Brittani, who has remained unidentified more than 12 months after their wedding. Rodgers first revealed in June last year that he had been married for “a couple of months,” placing the wedding around March or April 2025. However, he provided few details about the ceremony or his wife.

Rodgers has never publicly identified his wife, though he mentioned in a December 2024 episode of the Pat McAfee Show that he was dating someone named Brittani, who was described as a “private person.” She remains one of the NFL’s biggest mysteries, with even his teammates and their partners referring to her as a “phantom.”
In March, Rodgers expressed frustration over fans trying to uncover his wife’s identity, calling the behavior “f***ing bizarre.” He explained that the obsession extended beyond just fans, as he has faced stalkers and paparazzi attempting to capture images of his wife.
“The obsession is f***ing bizarre, that’s the only way to put it,” Rodgers said on The Pat McAfee Show. “The obsession is really bizarre. You guys know, you laughed about this many times, you showed pictures of it… we’re not living at the beach anymore. Part of it is, I have legitimate stalkers. I don’t say that lightly or flippantly, I’ve been getting stalked at my house for a year and a half, stalked at the coffee shop, at the gym at Pro Active. The paparazzi was flying drones over my house, I’ve learned that it’s had a bounty on getting a picture of my wife, which I think is very bizarre as well.”

He continued, reflecting on how he met Brittani: “When we met back in 2017, I know there was something crazy special about this, and I wanted to be with her. She would make funny comments like, ‘I would never live in Green Bay,’ and ‘I don’t want to be a players’ wife.’ She’s just not a public person. Then she moved back across the pond and I got myself into crazy town.”
