Legal Resolution for Social Media Influencers in Florida Alligator Incident
Two social media influencers, Braden Eric Peters and Andrew Morales, have avoided jail time after accepting plea deals in a Florida case involving a controversial incident in the Everglades. The case stems from a March livestream where the two individuals fired guns at an alligator.
Braden Eric Peters, who goes by the online name Clavicular, is 20 years old and has gained a following through his “looksmaxxing” content and daring stunts. He pleaded no contest in Miami court to misdemeanor firearms charges. According to prosecutors, Peters unlawfully fired multiple shots at a dead or incapacitated alligator while on an airboat in the Francis S. Taylor Wildlife Management Area, a protected section of the Everglades.
Andrew Morales, known as The Cuban Tarzan, is 22 years old and is recognized for his wildlife-focused content. He was also involved in the incident and accepted the same plea deal as Peters.
As part of their legal resolution, both men were sentenced to six months of probation. The terms of their probation include 20 hours of community service, completing a firearms safety course, and participating in an education program run by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. They are also prohibited from monetizing or livestreaming their community service activities.
The case came to light after the footage of the incident spread rapidly on social media, leading to a swift investigation by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC). The agency later referred the matter for prosecution, citing concerns about the discharge of firearms in a protected public area.
Prosecutors argued that the actions taken by Peters and Morales violated state law regarding firearm use in public spaces, regardless of whether the animal was alive at the time. Peters’ attorney stated that he was acting under the direction of a licensed airboat operator and claimed that no people or wildlife were harmed during the incident.
A third individual, Yabdiel Anibal Cotto Torres, is scheduled to appear before a Miami judge later this month.
This case adds to a growing list of legal issues involving Peters. In February, he was arrested in Fort Lauderdale on a misdemeanor battery charge linked to a physical altercation at an Airbnb near Orlando. The incident involved his girlfriend and another influencer, and investigators determined that Peters instigated the fight and then shared it on social media.
Peters has also faced separate civil allegations accusing him of battery, fraud, and emotional distress, which he has denied.
