He extended his deepest condolences and unwavering support to Lil Jon and his family during this incredibly difficult time. The legendary rapper, 58, spoke movingly about his connection to Nathan, referring to him affectionately as his ‘nephew’ and lamenting the loss of the promising young talent.

Just two days prior to the confirmation of Nathan’s death, Lil Jon, 55, had shared the heartbreaking announcement that his son’s body had been recovered from a pond in Georgia, following days of searching. The circumstances surrounding Nathan’s disappearance and subsequent death are currently under investigation by authorities.

E-40 recalled the last time he saw Lil Jon and Nathan together, a poignant memory that has become even more significant in light of the tragedy. He recounted how he and Lil Jon, along with their respective family members, had appeared together on the popular game show Family Feud last year. This shared experience underscored the deep bond and friendship that has existed between the two artists for many years, a connection that was further solidified through their iconic collaboration on the early 2000s hit song “Snap Yo Fingers,” alongside Sean Paul of Youngbloodz.

Speaking directly to Lil Jon, E-40 conveyed his solidarity and offered his unconditional assistance. “Lil Jon, anything you need that I can provide, I’m here for you,” E-40 stated, his voice filled with emotion. “I love you, and you know that, brother. And we’re going to miss nephew.” His words serve as a testament to the strong fraternal ties within the hip-hop fraternity, where support and empathy often shine through in moments of profound loss.

Nathan was pronounced dead on Friday afternoon. His body was discovered by authorities in a pond located near his residence in Milton, Georgia, at approximately 11:53 a.m. on Thursday, February 6, during an extensive search operation. The Milton Police Department has confirmed that, based on the investigation thus far, there is no immediate indication of foul play. However, they have stressed that the case remains an open and active investigation, with no further details to be released until the official cause and manner of death are determined by the Fulton County Medical Examiner and all investigative avenues have been thoroughly explored.

Lil Jon, whose real name is Jonathan Smith, is a father of two. Nathan was his eldest son. He also has a younger daughter, Nahara, who was welcomed in 2024 with his girlfriend Jamila Sozahdah. Nathan was born in 1998, to Lil Jon and his now-estranged wife, Nicole Smith.

Nathan followed in his father’s footsteps, carving out a path for himself in the music industry as a DJ and producer. He pursued his education at New York University (NYU), further honing his skills and passion for music.

In a heartfelt statement released to the media, Lil Jon and Nathan’s mother expressed their profound grief and devastation over the loss of their son. The former couple, who have requested privacy during this period of intense mourning, shared an emotional tribute to Nathan, describing him as a person of exceptional character.

“Nathan was the kindest human being you would ever meet,” the statement read. “He was immensely caring, thoughtful, polite, passionate, and warmhearted. He loved his family and the friends in his life to the fullest. He was an amazingly talented young man; a music producer, an artist and engineer, and graduate of NYU.”

The statement continued, conveying the immense love and pride they felt for their son: “We loved Nathan with all of our hearts and are incredibly proud of him. He was loved and appreciated, and in our last times together we’re comforted in knowing that we expressed that very sentiment to him. Thank you for all of the prayers and support in trying to locate him over the last several days.”

Lil Jon also took to Instagram to share his heartbreak, posting a reel of cherished throwback photos of himself and his son over the years. The caption accompanying the poignant montage read: “This hurts so bad. I love you son.”

Nathan’s last known social media post was on January 6, where he shared a photograph of himself with his manager, Lil Will, and rapper Bow Wow, taken at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta. The image provided a glimpse into his active social life and his engagement within the music scene.

The tragic loss of Nathan Smith serves as a stark reminder of the fragility of life and the deep impact that young talent can have.
