Two Minors Apprehended in Jhelum Over Alleged Assault of Special Needs Child

Authorities in the Jhelum district have taken two suspects into custody in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a minor girl with special needs. The incident reportedly took place in a village falling under the purview of the Domeli police station.

The complaint, lodged on March 16, was filed by Noor Muhammad, a resident of Gajial village. According to Mr. Muhammad, he has been the primary caregiver for his five grandchildren – two granddaughters and three grandsons – for the past five years. This responsibility arose after his son, Muhammad Ali, separated from his wife. The children’s mother subsequently left them and remarried.

The complainant alleges that his granddaughter, who has an intellectual disability, was enticed to an abandoned dwelling on March 5. It is further alleged that while one of the accused committed the assault, the other purportedly recorded the act on video.

Following initial investigations, the victim underwent a medical examination. Subsequently, charges were formally filed against the accused under sections 375-A, 367-A, and 292-C of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Police Investigation and Suspects Identified

Sikandar Gondal, SP Investigations for the Jhelum police, confirmed the arrests of the two suspects. They have been identified by the initials T. P. and M. R. These apprehensions were made after a thorough investigation designed to gather crucial physical evidence.

Chaudhry Muhammad Shafiq, District Police Officer, characterized the case as profoundly disturbing. He highlighted the sensitive nature of the circumstances, noting that both the victim, a 14-year-old girl with mental disabilities, and the alleged perpetrators are themselves minors, reportedly under the age of 14.

The District Police Officer emphasized the meticulous nature of the ongoing investigation, assuring that it is being conducted with no oversights. He further stated that all possible measures are being taken to ensure that the perpetrators are convicted through the judicial process. In addition to the ongoing forensic examinations, DNA analysis samples have been dispatched for testing.

The Jhelum district police have initiated a comprehensive investigation following the alleged assault of a minor girl with special needs. The incident, which reportedly occurred in a village under the Domeli police station’s jurisdiction, has led to the arrest of two suspects.

The complaint was registered by Noor Muhammad, a grandfather who has been raising his son’s children. He detailed how his granddaughter, described as having an intellectual disability, was allegedly lured to an abandoned property. It is claimed that the assault occurred there, with one suspect accused of the act and the other of filming it.

Investigators are meticulously gathering evidence and conducting forensic examinations. The victim has undergone a medical examination, and charges have been filed under relevant sections of the Pakistan Penal Code. The police department has stressed its commitment to a thorough and transparent investigation, aiming for justice for the victim. The involvement of minors as both victim and alleged perpetrators adds a particularly distressing dimension to this case, prompting a careful and sensitive approach from law enforcement. The collected DNA samples are currently undergoing analysis, a critical step in corroborating the evidence and supporting the prosecution’s case.
