A company specializing in oil pipeline monitoring, Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL), has shown confidence in Nigeria’s oil sector’s ability to achieve the 2.5 million barrels per day (mbpd) target established by the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
PINL is responsible for protecting the Trans Niger Pipeline, the Eastern Gas Network (EGN), and all other hydrocarbon facilities situated in the Eastern Corridor.
The company’s Director of Community and Stakeholder Relations, Mr. Akpos Mezeh, addressed a gathering of local stakeholders in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
Another update from NUPRC on May 12, 2026, states that: Nigeria fulfilled 99.2% of its 1.5mbpd OPEC crude oil target. This amount also marks a 7.58% rise compared to the figure for March.
He mentioned that the highest production in April reached 1.85 million barrels per day, whereas the lowest in that same month was 1.46 million barrels per day.
He mentioned that the striking numbers presented by the regulatory agencies are more than just standard data; they serve as “clear proof that stability, collaboration, and proper safeguarding of pipeline systems result in tangible economic advantages for our country and its citizens.”
He attributed the rise in oil production to the proactive efforts of monitoring teams and successful cooperation with all involved parties.
Mezeh stated that there has been no interruption in the oil pipeline across the Bayelsa, Adebawa, and Bisini routes during the last month, resulting in a rise in output, and credited this achievement to the patriotic attitude of all involved parties.
His statement, “Behind every rise in production lies the efforts and collaboration of communities, monitoring groups, traditional leaders, security forces, and other involved parties.”
He called on partners and monitoring groups to stay ahead of developments and carefully carry out their responsibilities within their zones of operation.
