The representative from the House of Representatives, Akin Rotimi, has won the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Ekiti North I (Ikole/Oye) Federal Constituency in Ekiti State.

Rotimi secured victory in 22 out of 24 wards within the constituency.

He overcame seven other candidates, including Bimbo Daramola, a former House member, Erelu Kemi Elebute-Halle, Gbenga Joseph, Prince Ayorinde Ejioye, Engr. Ayo Omotosho, Mrs. Funke Owoseni, Kayode Omoboya, and Barr. Yemi Ayodele Ayeni.

Rotimi had previously received support from various stakeholders within the constituency, such as local government chairmen, their equivalents in the Local Council Development Areas, councilors, ward chairmen, female leaders, youth leaders, and other prominent political figures throughout Ekiti State, who characterized his representation as consistent, approachable, and focused on achieving outcomes.

Rotimi stated in a release that the result of the primary election highlights the changing political landscape within the constituency, reinforcing his electoral power and support among local voters in Ekiti North I.

He claimed that his track record of accomplishments within the constituency speaks for itself, noting that during the 10th Assembly, he established a reputation through increased legislative presence, organized dissemination of parliamentary work, and strong involvement in national discussions.

Rotimi emphasized that his position as Spokesman has increased his influence within the legislative body, making him one of the more prominent figures in the House.

He praised the peaceful nature of the event, which he described as competitive, emphasizing internal party democracy within the APC, and ultimately resulting in a clear and firm mandate for the current leader before the general election season.
