Cadillac Unveils Striking Formula 1 Livery in Bold Super Bowl Debut
Cadillac has officially entered the world of Formula 1, not with a roar on the track, but with a visually arresting advertisement that aired during the NFL’s Super Bowl. This marks a significant moment for the American luxury automotive brand as it prepares to debut its first-ever Formula 1 car. While the official designation of the Ferrari-powered challenger remains under wraps, its striking livery has already captured significant attention, signalling Cadillac’s ambitious entry into the pinnacle of motorsport.
The newly revealed livery is characterized by a distinctive two-tone design, splitting the car’s flanks with contrasting colours. The left side of the car will feature a sophisticated grayish-white, while the right side will be presented in a bold, assertive black. This asymmetric approach to design is not entirely unprecedented in Formula 1 history. It bears a notable resemblance to the livery employed by the BAR team during the 1999 season. That design also utilized a split approach, with red and white on one side and blue and yellow on the other, a strategy often adopted to accommodate the diverse branding needs of multiple sponsors.
A Closer Look at the Sponsorship Landscape
While the full roster of partners is still evolving, several key sponsors are already prominently displayed on the Cadillac F1 car. The sidepods prominently feature the logo of TWG, the team’s owner, signifying their foundational role. Further back, the rear wing endplates showcase the IFS logo, identifying a Swedish software company that has joined the F1 venture.
The bargeboards, an area often used for significant branding, are adorned with the logos of the American bourbon whiskey brand, Jim Beam, and the Mexican telecommunications giant, Claro. Claro, in particular, has a long-standing association with Mexican racing driver Sergio Perez, indicating a potential connection to the team’s driver lineup. A sister brand to Claro, Telcel, also linked to the 36-year-old Perez, has a more discreet presence positioned just ahead of the cockpit. Adding to the visual tapestry, the nosecone of the car displays a variety of logos, including that of the well-known clothing brand, Tommy Hilfiger.
The Vision Behind the Design
Dan Towriss, CEO of the team, articulated the strategic intent behind this bold livery reveal and the design philosophy. “This livery represents far more than a paint scheme; it represents who we are and what we bring to Formula 1,” Towriss stated. He emphasized that “every detail is intentional: bold, modern, and unmistakably American, while respecting the heritage and precision that define this sport.”

The decision to unveil the livery during the Super Bowl, a globally recognized sporting event, and in the iconic setting of Times Square, New York, was a deliberate choice to make a significant global statement. “Choosing to reveal our first race livery during the Super Bowl and in the heart of Times Square is a way to introduce our identity to the world at the intersection of performance, culture, and entertainment, and to connect with fans in places far beyond the paddock,” Towriss explained. This approach aims to embed Cadillac within the broader cultural landscape, reaching audiences beyond the traditional motorsport fanbase.
A Formidable Driver Lineup
Adding to the anticipation surrounding Cadillac’s F1 debut is the confirmed return of experienced drivers Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas to the grid. Both drivers spent the 2025 season on the sidelines, making their comeback this season a significant storyline. Their combined racing pedigree is impressive, boasting a total of 16 Grand Prix victories, 23 pole positions, and a staggering 106 podium finishes. Bottas, in particular, accumulated a substantial portion of these accolades during his highly successful five-season tenure with the dominant Mercedes outfit. Their wealth of experience and proven track record are expected to be invaluable assets as Cadillac navigates its inaugural Formula 1 season.
