41 disposals and a goal was enough to see Collingwood star Nick Daicos reclaim the lead from Isaac Heeney in the race to be crowned Zero Hanger MVP, but not enough to see him claim the maximum amount of possible votes.
Daicos split best on ground honours with running mate Jordan De Goey, whose 26 disposals and three majors saw him pinch votes from his acting captain.
Elsewhere, an excellent return in front of the sticks, and a new string to his bow in the form of increased rucking responsibilities saw budding North Melbourne commodity Cooper Trembath garner unanimous best on ground plaudits for the first time in his young career.
Prototypical Docker Luke Jackson kept touch with the pacesetters with another flawless outing, while Hawk Jai Newcombe and Blue George Hewett also registered 20 votes each for their roles in critical victories for their side.
However, in the star turn of the weekend, brilliant Bulldog Marcus Bontempelli was beyond influential in his side’s entertaining victory over an injury-hit St Kilda. After 34 disposals, 13 clearances, a scintillating goal and seven tackles, “The Bont” had to be handed the 20 votes, and he was.
Each week, Zero Hanger’s Jonty Ralphsmith, Mitch Keating, Harrison McIlwaine and Aidan Cellini will give their 5-4-3-2-1 votes from each game’s action, and the player with the most votes at the conclusion of the home and away season will be crowned the Zero Hanger MVP, powered by Winning Edge Presentations.
