Dua Lipa and Callum Turner’s $2.5 million Sicilian wedding: The fashion, the history and every lavish detail

When Dua Lipa, 29, and British actor Callum Turner, 35, confirmed their engagement in June 2025, we knew the wedding would be a spectacle. But the Radical Optimism singer has exceeded even our expectations with a five-day celebration that served as a la dolce vita odyssey spanning a London registry office steeped in music heritage to the sun-drenched palazzos of Sicily. Now, Lipa has unveiled the much-anticipated final gown: Matthieu Blazy’s first bridal design for Chanel bringing the celebrations and speculation to a close.

The Sicilian leg of the wedding is estimated by Vanity Fair to have cost $1.75 million US (close to $2.5 million AU) and mirrors the couple’s meteoric careers. Lipa continues to dominate the global music industry with a net worth that was reported on the Sunday Times Rich List as sitting at $120 and $200 million US in 2026. Meanwhile, Callum Turner finds himself squarely in the Hollywood spotlight as the frontrunner for cinema’s most coveted tuxedo — the next James Bond. Below, the definitive timeline of European fashion, historic locations, and intimate details from one of the biggest celebrity unions in recent memory.

Saturday, June 6, 2026 — The Grand Finale at Villa Valguarnera in Chanel Haute Couture

The “Physical” singer unveiled her official (and much-anticipated) wedding gown in one of her signature low-key Instagram carousels, captioned simply: Mr & Mrs.

A breathtaking custom Chanel Haute Couture creation, the piece marks a historic moment for Creative Director Matthieu Blazy — his first bridal commission for the house. Handcrafted and meticulously hand-embroidered within the walls of the maison’s legendary 31 Rue Cambon atelier, the gown required an astonishing 1,155 hours of artisan labour.

The design featured a halter-neck bodice trimmed with optical-illusion trompe l’oeil jewels and delicate needlework. Adorned with a staggering 480,000 beads, the figure-hugging silhouette exploded at the knee into a dramatic, sweeping two-metre train embellished with 25,000 pristine ostrich feathers. Across the singer’s back, cascading tiers of jewels created a glittering chandelier effect that caught the light with every movement. The look was completed with a dramatic six-metre hand-embroidered tulle veil, worked with beads, feathers and hand-cut organza appliqués to depict poetic imagery of birds and flowers, a process that required 3,000 hours of handwork. The look was finished with white satin pumps custom-made by Massaro. Turner looked every bit the British spy in a perfectly tailored Louis Vuitton suit designed by house creative director Pharrell Williams.

The ceremony itself took place at Villa Valguarnera, an 18th-century Baroque estate perched above the rugged Sicilian coastline. Famous for its symbolic “Key of Knowledge” architectural layout, the villa is owned by the enigmatic Princess Vittoria Alliata di Villafranca — a royal intellectual who famously translated Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings into Italian.

According to Vanity Fair, the couple exchanged vows beneath an elegant gazebo on the estate’s organic farmland, before a star-studded guest list. They were then were treated to a surprise live performance of “Your Song” by Lipa’s longtime friend and collaborator, Elton John.

The evening unfolded into a lavish Italian feast curated by Michelin-starred chef Tony Lo Coco alongside the famed Osteria dei Vespri. Guests dined on hyper-local Sicilian favourites: anelletti alla Norma, panelle, crocché, cassate, and fresh cannoli.

Mid-week — Palazzo Gangi Welcome Party in Custom Bottega Veneta and Bulgari

The couple’s Sicilian chapter officially began late Wednesday evening when they touched down in Palermo via private jet. Setting the tone for an opulent weekend, they took over two floors of Villa Igiea — a legendary waterfront hotel with sweeping views over Palermo’s broad bay, and instantly recognisable to television fans as a key filming location for the Sicilian chapter of Mike White’s The White Lotus.

To coordinate the massive multi-day undertaking, Lipa enlisted Alessandra Grillo, the elite Italian wedding planner famously responsible for the viral nuptials of Chiara Ferragni and Fedez.

Before the main ceremony, the couple hosted a welcome party at the historic Palazzo Gangi. Built by Sicilian nobility across the 17th and 18th centuries, the Baroque palace served as the backdrop for Luchino Visconti’s iconic 1963 masterpiece, The Leopard (Il Gattopardo).

Walking across marble tiles intricately inlaid with leopards, Lipa stunned in a custom Bottega Veneta gown designed by Louis Trotter — a rare bridal look for the house featuring a dramatic plunging back, the label’s signature intrecciato texture, and a spectacular mermaid-cut skirt crafted from white feathers.

She was dripping in Bulgari High Jewellery: a Serpenti High Jewellery necklace in rose gold set with tanzanite, onyx and diamonds, a Serpenti Secret watch, a High Jewellery Bulgari Tubogas watch, and matching High Jewellery Serpenti ruby earrings. The first Serpenti piece debuted in 1948 and quickly became a house signature; according to Sotheby’s, the collection represents power, transformation, seduction, and eternity — a fittingly romantic choice of nuptial jewellery.

As a nostalgic nod to European nightlife, waiters circulated with martinis, Aperol Spritzes, and cigarettes. The guest list read like a cultural roll call: Charli xcx, Mark Ronson, Harry Styles, Donatella Versace. The celebration offered a slice of regional history amid the glamour: the palace rests in Bagheria, a northern coastal town once part of Sicily’s historic “Triangle of Death” mafia stronghold, now beautifully reborn as a haven of orange trees, fountains, and baroque churches.

May 31, 2026 — London’s Old Marylebone Town Hall in Custom Schiaparelli

Before the grand Italian weekend, the love story went official where it all began: London. On May 31, the couple quietly married at the Old Marylebone Town Hall — a historic registry venue steeped in British music heritage, having previously hosted the weddings of Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and Liam Gallagher. For her civil look, Lipa paid homage to sixties bridal counter-culture in a powder-blue custom Schiaparelli suit, a nod to Bianca Jagger’s iconic bridal tailoring, paired with Christian Louboutin pumps.

The choice of Sicily as a wedding destination was a deeply personal one. The island has long been a romantic sanctuary for the pair, who were spotted holidaying in Palermo in 2025. Local proprietors remembered them warmly; the owner of a small bar, Dal Barone, told the press that the couple spent hours over local wine and cigarettes. Speaking to the Telegraph, he described Lipa as “very normal, very low-key.”

Though they initially crossed paths briefly at London’s River Cafe, Lipa and Tuner’s romance truly sparked at a mutual friend’s party in Los Angeles. In a moment fit for a Hollywood script, the pair discovered they were both independently reading the same book — Trust by Hernan Diaz.

Upon discovering they had just finished the exact same chapter, Turner remarked: “So, we’re on the same page.”

Two years later, they turned another page together, beginning a new chapter as husband and wife.
