Programming Contest at Begum Rokeya University

Bangladesh, May 17 — The regional round of the Bangladesh Cyber Security Olympiad and the National High School Programming Competition-2026 took place at Begum Rokeya University (BRUR) in Rangpur.

The event was held in the university’s Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Shawkat Ali of Begum Rokeya University participated as the main guest.

The event was organized into various sections to ensure smooth execution, including the ICT Quiz for 6th-8th Grade Junior students, 9th-10th Grade Senior students, and the Cyber Security Quiz for 6th-8th Grade Junior, 9th-10th Grade Secondary, and 11th-12th Grade Higher Secondary participants.

In the Programming Competition, participants were divided into categories for 6th to 8th grade juniors, 9th to 10th grade secondary students, and 11th to 12th grade higher secondary levels.

As per the organizing body, this Olympiad is being held with the objective of raising awareness, enhancing skills, and promoting technology-related knowledge among the nation’s youth in the field of cybersecurity. Participants from different schools across the Rangpur division took part in the event. The students engaged in contests related to programming, cybersecurity, and quizzes.

The coordinator of the event and the Head of the Department of BRUR’s CSE Department, Professor Dr. Md. Elias Pramanik, stated, “I have observed the enthusiasm of numerous students, parents, and educators. I believe that if such contests are held regularly in our nation, it will inspire innovative thoughts among our students.”

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Shawkat Ali stated that not everyone can win the competition; however, success is certain to arrive eventually, whether today or tomorrow.

The gathering was held in partnership with the Information and Communication Technology Division (ICT Division), the National Cyber Security Agency, and the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology.
