The International Aerial Photographer of the Year competition has unveiled its winners after judges carefully reviewed 1,587 entries submitted from all over the world. This prestigious award celebrates the talent and creativity of photographers who use drones and other aerial tools to capture unique perspectives of the natural world.
The Winning Photographs
Azim Khan Ronnie was awarded the coveted title with a striking image of thousands of migratory Siberian seagulls feeding in Yamuna Ghat, India. The photograph highlights the intricate patterns formed by the birds as they gather along the riverbank, creating a mesmerizing scene that reflects the harmony between wildlife and nature.
Another notable entry is Dawn Net by Chin Leong Teo, which captures a fisherman’s yellow net as it spreads across the water like a blooming flower. The image showcases the simplicity and beauty of traditional fishing practices, set against the backdrop of a calm lake.
Kah-Wai Lin’s third-place photograph features Yilki horses surging across a dusty plateau at sunset in Cappadocia, Turkey. The image captures the energy and movement of these wild horses as they run under the golden light of the setting sun, creating a dramatic and vivid portrayal of nature in motion.
The Photograph of the Year
The photograph of the year was awarded to Vitaly Golovatyuk for his captivating image of a bird sitting on the water of a clear lake, reflecting the sky. Surrounded by red grass, the photograph creates a serene and peaceful atmosphere, emphasizing the delicate balance between land and water.
This year’s competition welcomed both amateur and professional photographers, with strict rules prohibiting the use of artificial intelligence in the creation of the images. This ensures that the winning photographs are purely the result of human skill and creativity.
Recognition and Publication
Winners of the competition will have their aerial photographs featured alongside the top 101 entries in an annual awards book. The overall winner will receive $5,000 and a trophy, recognizing their exceptional contribution to the field of aerial photography.
