Pakistan, May 17 — The All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) conveys its deep sadness and mourning following the passing of the esteemed editor, thinker, and experienced journalist Mr. Altaf Hasan Qureshi, Editor-in-Chief of Urdu Digest, based in Lahore.
Senator Sarmad Ali, President of APNS, and Mr. Mohammad Athar Kazi, Secretary General of APNS, issued a joint statement in which they highly honored the late Mr. Qureshi, referring to him as one of the most esteemed and impactful personalities in Urdu journalism. They mentioned that his outstanding contributions to the field of journalism and intellectual discussions would be remembered for many years.
The officials of APNS observed that Mr. Altaf Hasan Qureshi made a significant contribution to advancing serious journalism, national ideas, and literary standards in Pakistan via Urdu Digest. His editorial perspective, honesty, and dedication to ethical reporting garnered him great admiration within the media sector and among readers nationwide. They added that the demise of Mr. Qureshi represents an irreplaceable loss for Pakistan’s journalistic and literary circles.
The officials of APNS expressed their sincere sympathies to the grieving family and prayed that the Almighty Allah may provide the departed soul eternal peace and give the family members patience and resilience to cope with this great loss. The funeral prayers will be held on Sunday, May 17, following the Zohar prayers at Jamia Ashrafia, Lahore.
