A Pastor’s Perspective on Religious Tensions and Divine Missions

Prophet Odedoyin Olawumi Ezekiel, the leader of God of White Calling for All Souls Ministries, recently shared his insights in an interview with BOLA BAMIGBOLA. He discussed a recent incident involving pastors from his church visiting the Osun-Osogbo shrine and the subsequent disagreements that arose.

Background and Ministry Overview

Prophet Odedoyin has been deeply involved in ministry for over 20 years. He describes himself as an indigene of heavenly Jerusalem and emphasizes that his ministry is spotless, having never engaged in violence or conflict. His organization, God of White Calling for All Souls Ministries, is based in Ikotun, Lagos, with branches across Nigeria and abroad. The headquarters were previously located in Modakeke before moving to Osogbo and finally settling in Lagos.

The Osun-Osogbo Shrine Visit

The visit to the Osun-Osogbo shrine was part of a broader mission. A new pastor was posted to the Osogbo church, and during deliverance sessions, people began mentioning the shrine. This led the pastor to decide to visit the site. Upon arrival, they were required to purchase a ticket and were questioned about their mission. They explained that God had directed them there, and after being cleared by security, they entered the grove.

Inside, they encountered a shrine where a chicken was killed, and its blood was splashed on an object. The pastor noticed this and prayed against any potential harm to those who accompanied him. After the prayer, they left the shrine without incident.

Disagreements and Escalation

As the group moved toward the Osun River, they were approached by traditionalists demanding additional money. These women insisted on collecting cash, despite the fact that the entrance fee had already been paid. The disagreement escalated when more individuals arrived, including a man named Farinu, who is referred to as Oluwo by the traditionalists.

Farinu was shocked that the pastor had not died after touching the Esu deity. This reaction suggested that some people might have died through the deity in the past. Prophet Odedoyin clarified that he was not present at the scene and was informed of the events by his pastors. He also mentioned that he has been to various locations, including the Dead Sea and the Sea of Galilee, where he declared spirits powerless.

Approval and Intentions

Prophet Odedoyin stated that he did not approve of the trip to the Osun-Osogbo grove but believed it was guided by the spirit of God. The pastors went to the shrine to address strange spirits encountered during deliverance sessions. He emphasized that they did not attack any symbols of faith.

After the incident, traditionalists wrote a petition to the DSS, and some even attacked the church, slaughtering a dog and harassing pastors. Monarchs were involved in these actions, with one individual named Oyewole participating in the attack.

Church Sealing and Government Involvement

A monarch claimed to have sealed the church, but Prophet Odedoyin argued that only the government has the authority to do so. The Osun State Government held a meeting with all involved parties, and the CAN chairman invited the ministry to appear. However, Prophet Odedoyin clarified that they are not part of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and belong to the White Calling Religion.

Beliefs and Practices

Prophet Odedoyin explained that their religion differs from Christianity. They believe in the God who created heaven and earth, recognizing Jesus Christ as one of His messengers. Their holy book, called the Book of Words, is distinct from the Bible. They emphasize holiness and abhor sin, believing in the power of God.

Legal and Social Implications

Regarding the petition written against them, Prophet Odedoyin expressed trust in the police and the leadership of President Bola Tinubu. He plans to attend a meeting with the Osun State Police Command and resolve the matter amicably with the monarch.

Future Plans and Public Perception

Despite the controversy, Prophet Odedoyin remains committed to his mission. He believes that if called, he will visit other shrines and traditional sites to address any spiritual issues. He also noted that his visits are often initiated by invitations, such as the one from the monarch of a town where he cast out a deity hindering progress.

In conclusion, Prophet Odedoyin’s journey reflects a deep commitment to his faith and a belief in divine guidance. He continues to navigate the complex interplay between religious traditions and modern practices, striving for peace and understanding in a diverse society.
