Kaduna State’s Ambitious Road Network Projects Position Governor for 2027 Re-election

Kaduna State is witnessing an unprecedented surge in road infrastructure development, with over 1,335 kilometers of projects currently underway across its vast expanse. This extensive network of road constructions, encompassing both urban centres and remote rural areas, is being heralded as a key factor that could significantly bolster Governor Uba Sani’s prospects for re-election in 2027.

Abdullahi Baba-Ahmed, the Managing Director of the Kaduna State Roads Agency (KADRA), articulated this sentiment while engaging with a youth delegation. He emphasised that tangible, usable infrastructure, particularly roads, serves as concrete evidence of the administration’s delivery on its promises. This, he argued, provides voters with a compelling reason to opt for continuity when the next electoral cycle arrives.

Baba-Ahmed highlighted the sheer scale of the current road development initiatives, stating that it surpasses anything previously witnessed in the state. He revealed that more than 140 road projects are in various stages of completion, with approximately 60 percent already finished. These projects are not merely cosmetic; they are actively reaching communities that have historically been isolated, with some experiencing direct government intervention and infrastructure development for the first time in decades.

Reconnecting Communities and Stimulating Commerce

The strategic vision behind these projects is to revitalise connectivity across Kaduna State’s three senatorial districts. Key road corridors have been meticulously planned, initiated, executed, and, in many cases, completed. The immediate impact has been a significant easing of movement, a strengthening of local commerce, and the crucial reconnection of communities that previously grappled with severe accessibility challenges.

One of the most notable projects is the 35-kilometre Gadar Gayan-Gwaraji-Maraban Kujama asphalt road. This ambitious undertaking includes a significant 130-metre bridge spanning the Kaduna River, a vital link that directly connects 76 farming communities. Baba-Ahmed pointed out that upon Governor Uba Sani’s assumption of office, a stark reality was that about 12 local government areas had never seen a single kilometer of road project completed. This administration, through its commitment, has decisively broken that cycle of neglect by awarding and successfully completing projects like the Gadar Gayan to Kujama road, which extends vital access to Igabi and numerous other communities, including those 76 farming settlements.

Overwhelming Public Approval and Future Expectations

The response from residents to these newly developed and upgraded road networks has been overwhelmingly positive, according to Baba-Ahmed. He indicated that the public approval for these projects is steadily growing. “The response to these laudable, high-quality, and durable projects has been overwhelming,” he stated. “The people of Kaduna State will reciprocate this gesture by massively re-electing Governor Uba Sani in 2027.”

A diverse range of completed roads exemplifies the administration’s commitment to improving connectivity. Among these are:

Youth Support Echoes Confidence in Political Future

The positive sentiment surrounding these infrastructure developments was echoed by Abdullahi Umar, convener of the KADA Agenda, a prominent youth group. Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Umar lauded KADRA’s work and expressed strong confidence in the favourable political outcomes anticipated for the current administration.

Umar specifically commended the agency for its adherence to timely delivery and its unwavering focus on the quality of construction. “With the kind of projects executed, we are confident that victory will be assured in 2027,” he remarked, underscoring the belief that tangible progress translates into electoral success. The ongoing road projects in Kaduna State represent a significant investment in the state’s future, aiming to foster economic growth, enhance social cohesion, and solidify the current administration’s mandate for the upcoming election cycle.
