Punjab CM Arrives in Baku for Pakistan’s World Urban Forum Debut

Pakistan, May 17 — Punjab’s Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif arrived in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, accompanied by a group of officials, and received a friendly reception at the airport.

Deputy Minister of the Defence Industry, Mr. Mehman Bakhshiyev, greeted Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and her delegation when they arrived at Baku Airport. The Azerbaijani Ambassador to Pakistan, Khazar Farhadov, along with his wife, and the Pakistani Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Qasim Mohiuddin, together with his wife, were also at the airport to welcome the visiting group.

Prime Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif will serve as the official guest of the Azerbaijani government during her three-day trip. She is set to meet with President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan on May 17.

The head of the provincial government will take part in the World Urban Forum in Baku and will speak at the World Leaders Summit held at the Baku Olympic Stadium.

She will also introduce Punjab’s “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” initiative at the World Urban Forum. The distinctive affordable housing program of Punjab, “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar,” will be highlighted at the global event.

Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Information Minister Azma Bukhari, Housing Minister Bilal Yasin, Sports Minister Faisal Ayub, Agriculture Minister Ashiq Hussain Kirmani, and Special Assistant Ali Dar are also included in the delegation.

Prime Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif honored Lady Constable Shakeela, who sacrificed her life in a terrorist incident.

The chief minister conveyed heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the grieving family, stating that the country honored Balochistan’s courageous daughter, the martyr Lady Constable Shakeela. CM Maryam Nawaz also wished for the swift recovery of her husband and son, who were injured in the incident.
