Ugi of (G)I-DLE Shatters Records with 52 Consecutive Weeks in Chinese Music Chart Top 10

Ugi, the talented Chinese member of the globally recognized K-pop girl group (G)I-DLE, has achieved a remarkable milestone in the competitive Chinese music landscape. Her digital single, Radio (Dum-Dum), has maintained a presence within the top 10 of Tencent Music Entertainment’s (TME) Tencent Music Korea chart for an astonishing 52 consecutive weeks. This sustained popularity underscores Ugi’s significant impact and broad appeal in the region.

The digital single, released on March 17 of last year, has consistently held its ground, a testament to its enduring quality and Ugi’s artistic prowess. As of the 23rd, the track secured the 6th position on the chart, marking the continuation of this impressive streak.

A Self-Composed Ballad of Reflection

Radio (Dum-Dum) is more than just a chart-topping hit; it’s a deeply personal creation by Ugi herself. The song, a medium-tempo boom bap genre piece, uses the metaphor of a radio to convey complex emotions and reflections towards a former lover. Its lyrical depth and relatable theme have clearly resonated with a wide audience, contributing to its long-term success.

The track’s journey to widespread acclaim began when Ugi first performed it during her solo stage at her 2024 world tour. Following this successful introduction, the song was released as a digital single. Upon its release in China, Radio (Dum-Dum) immediately climbed to the top, dominating QQ Music’s daily and weekly bestseller album charts, signaling a strong debut and immediate fan reception.

Recognition as a “Woman of the Year”

Ugi’s undeniable talent and growing influence have not gone unnoticed by industry leaders. Tencent Music recently honored her by selecting her as one of the recipients of the prestigious ‘2026 Women of the Year in Music’ award. This recognition highlights her as a “next-generation female singer-songwriter who has demonstrated talent and achieved outstanding results in Korea and China.” The accolade solidifies her position as a prominent figure in the contemporary music scene, bridging cultural and geographical boundaries with her artistry.

(G)I-DLE’s Global Momentum Continues

The success of Ugi as a solo artist mirrors the broader global trajectory of her group, (G)I-DLE. The five-member group, comprising Miyeon, Minnie, Soyeon, Ugi, and Shuhua, is set to make a significant appearance at the renowned Lollapalooza music festival in Chicago’s Grant Park on July 31st (local time). This highly anticipated performance at one of the world’s largest music festivals is expected to further amplify their international presence.

Adding to their busy schedule, (G)I-DLE will also engage with American audiences through special performances on prominent television shows. They are scheduled to appear on NBC’s The Today Show and The Kelly Clarkson Show, showcasing their hit track Mono (Feat. skaiwater). These television appearances are building considerable anticipation for their upcoming North American arena tour slated for August.

A World Tour of Unprecedented Scale

(G)I-DLE is currently in the midst of their extensive fourth world tour, aptly titled ‘2026 i-dle WORLD TOUR [Syncopation]‘. The tour commenced with a powerful performance in Seoul back in February and has since taken the group across the globe. Their recent concert at Bangkok’s Impact Arena on the 21st marks another significant stop, continuing their upward trend on the international stage.

Notably, (G)I-DLE has made history as the first K-pop girl group to perform at the prestigious Taipei Dome, a venue synonymous with major musical events. This achievement, alongside their continued global touring success, demonstrates their growing influence and dedicated fanbase worldwide. The group’s consistent delivery of high-quality music and captivating performances continues to solidify their status as global music icons.
